I found this CD tonight, "River of Song ", unearthing some stuff that had been stored for years, never heard it before. Hard to believe no one has yet to leave a comment on this song. So it's up to me (gulp!), cause what do you say after lyrics like this? As a songwriter, I appreciate good songs and lyrics. This is GREAT songwriting, in all aspects. The music rolls and flows like a river (appropriately), but the the lyrics carry it along (where usually the music does this), so it is kinda unusual in that way. The style, Don's voice, intonation/inflection, all fit, all rumble and roll and carry this brilliant piece of poetry set to music rowing, rolling, roaring with a passion and clear sensitivity that left me spellbound, and now, (finally), speechless. I'd tip my songwriters hat to you if I could, but it got blown away listening to this river song while I was rowing like a crazed River Angel...(hey, now there's a song idea...mine, mine...)
